IJmuiden Breakwater

Skeye conducted a survey together with sister company Deep from Amsterdam at the IJmuiden Harbour Breakwater. At high-tide the breakwater was surveyed using a multibeam echosounder and real time RTK GPS positioning. For this the Deep survey vessel ‘Storm’ was used.Skeye conducted an aerial survey using the Microdrone MD4-1000 unmanned helicopter at low-tide.

Both datasets could be integrated due to the fact that an overlap in the data was created around the waterline by surveying at high and low tide. In addition both datasets were surveyed in the same coordinate system, the Dutch Rijksdriehoekstelsel.

Extra quality control measurements were carried out using an RTK GPS. The obtained values were compared with the produced orthophoto mosaic and the height model. Extremely high accuracies were obtained with an average error in X of 14 mm, in Y of 13 mm and 13 mm in height.
