One of the offshore Oil & Gas operators on the North Sea contracted Skeye to execute a UAV visual inspection for ‘life time extension’ purposes on parts of their structure.
Main purpose of the inspection was to visualise and compare actual conditions of the structure against a ‘rope access’ inspection report dated several years ago. This to enable our client to monitor deterioration and overall condition of the structure and to determine the need for selective follow-up maintenance work to guarantee integrity of the structure for the years to come.
After full risk assessment and method statement a two men Skeye team with extensive offshore experience executed two days of inspection flights covering the complete scope. Without any installation downtime and a serious reduction of health & safety risks by using a UAV, Skeye collected valuable information for its client to plan and budget a next shutdown.
The inspection proved to be a very flexible and cost effective solution for our client and is planned to be implemented on other assets as well.
